The Polycom 550 4-Line Premium Desktop IP phone is designed for high-use applications where a comfortable and informative desk phone is required. The phone includes four line appearances, missed/received/placed call directories, two-way speakerphone, mute, headset, call-waiting, three-way calling, a backlit LCD panel, and more. Both the Polycom 550 and Polycom 650 include a built-in Ethernet switch and support standard 802.11af power over Ethernet. The Polycom 650 may also attach up to three 14-button Attendant Consoles for station status and speed dial capabilities

- Message Waiting Indicator – This light alerts you to incoming calls and new voicemails.
- Display Control Keys – Use the arrows to scroll through display menus. Use the check mark to select.
- Feature Keys – Use these keys to access various functions and features of the phone system. Directories allows access to local directories, Menu gives access to the phone’s menu, Applications can be used to access custom applications, Messages dials the voicemail system, Conference is used for three-way calling, Do Not Disturb automatically forwards calls to voicemail, Transfer transfers a call, and Redial redials the last dialed phone number.
- Microphone Mute – Mutes audio locally during a call.
- Headset Button – Place, receive, or switch current call to your headset.
- Microphone – The microphone pickup for the hands-free speakerphone.
- Speakerphone Button – Place, receive, or switch current call to the speaker phone.

- Volume Buttons – Adjust the volume of the handset, headset, speaker, and ringer.
- Dial Pad – Same as traditional telephone.
- Softkeys – Performs context-specific functions as shown on the LCD screen.
- Hold Button – Places active call on hold or resumes held call.
- Speaker – For ringer and hands-free speakerphone output.

- Line Keys – Use these keys to activate the call appearances associated with them.
- Line Indicators – These multi-color LEDs display the call state of the two call appearances. Solid Green – Active call. Flashing Green – Incoming call. Flashing Red – call is on hold.
- Line Icons – These visual displays will let you know the status of the two call appearances.
- Graphic Display – Shows information about calls, messagtes, softkeys, time, date, and other relevant information.

Using the Polycom 550/650 Premium Desktop IP Phone
Placing a Call
- Take the handset off hook or press a Line Key, the Speakerphone Button, or the Headset Button to get a dial tone.
- Dial the number you wish to call.
- Press the Dial button or wait for timeout.
Transferring a Call
- While in a call, press the Transfer button or the Trnsfer softkey.
- If making a blind (unannounced) transfer, press the Blind key now.
- Dial the number to which you wish to transfer the call and press the Send button.
- If Blind was selected, the transfer will happen immediately. Otherwise, announce the call and press the Trnsfer softkey again to complete the transfer. Alternatively, press the More softkey and then the Split softkey to return to the original call.
Perform Three-Way Calling
- While in a call, press the Conference button or the Confrnc softkey.
- Dial the number you wish to add and press the Send button.
- Announce the call.
- Press the Confrnc softkey again to join the two calls together or press the More softkey followed by the Split softkey to return to the original call.
- Once the three-way call is in progress, you can press the More softkey followed by the Split softkey at any time to split the calls apart. Both calls will end up on hold on lines one and two call appearances.
Dial Voicemail for this Extension
- Press the Messages button.
- Enter the password for your voicemail box using your dial pad.
Directory Features
Look Up Missed, Placed, or Received Calls
- Press the Directories button.
- Use the navigation keys to select Call Lists... from the list of directories.
- Press the Select softkey.
- Use the navigation keys to select and browse through the appropriate directory.
Add a Contact to Your Personal Directory
- Press the Directories button.
- Use the navigation keys to select Contact Directories....
- Press the Select softkey.
- Press the Add softkey.
- Use the navigation keys, the dial pad, and the 1/A/a softkey to enter in all of the appropriate information for the contact.
- When all of the information has been entered, press the Save softkey.
Delete a Contact from Your Personal Directory
- Press the Directories button.
- Use the navigation keys to select Contact Directories....
- Use the navigation keys to select the contact you wish to delete.
- Press the More softkey followed by the Delete softkey to delete the contact.
Call a Contact from Your Personal Directory
- Press the Directories button.
- Use the navigation keys to select Contact Directories....
- Use the navigation keys to select the contact you wish to call.
- Press the Dial button.
