The Cisco 7940/7960 2-Line/6-Line Desk Phone is a standard workhorse desk phone. Features include a large 4-color display, two line appearances, missed/received/placed call directories, two-way speaker phone, mute, headset, call-waiting, three-way calling, and more. The Cisco 7940 is extendable with custom applications which can allow you to look up customer information, check stock prices, or check weather forecasts right from your phone.

Cisco 7960 Phone Interface
  1. LCD screen – Displays features such as time, date, phone number, caller ID, and softkeys.
  2. Line Softkeys – These buttons correspond to a line as shown on the LCD screen. The 7940 has two of these while the 7960 has six.
  3. Tilt Adjustment – Adjust the tilt of your phone.
  4. Softkeys – Performs context-specific functions as shown on the LCD screen.
  5. Help Button – Displays information about various buttons.
  1. Application Buttons – Messages, Directories, Services, and Settings.
  2. Volume Buttons – Ringer and call volume.
  3. Speaker Buttons – Headset, Mute, Speaker.
  4. Navigation Buttons – Navigate applications and features on LCD screen.
  5. Dial Pad – Same as traditional telephone.
  6. Handset – Functions like a traditional handset. Light at the top blinks on incoming calls and stays lit when you have voicemail.

Important: If an attended transfer was selected, you must press the Trnsfer softkey again to complete the transfer. If you hang up the handset before completing the transfer, the transfer will be cancelled and the call will remain on hold on your phone.
