Description

Call parking is one method of transferring a call from one extension to another. It most closely resembles a key system's line numbers (Line 1, Line 2, etc). Modern PBX-style phone systems no longer have the concept of "lines" when making and receiving calls. When you place a call on a PBX-style phone system, the phone system automatically determines which phone line the call should go out on, and when a call goes it, the call is processed transparently. The extension phones themselves have no need to see line appearances. However, it may still be necessary for calls to be accessable from more than one phone at a time.

What is Call Parking?

Being able to access a call from any number of phones at a time is usually an important feature from a phone. The person to whom the call is destined may not be at his or her desk, but they may still want to pick up the call. Call Parking enables us to do this by giving us a parking lot where we can place calls.

How Do I Use Call Parking?

Call parking is simple to use. When your phone system is set up, there will be a Parking Lot extension configured, as well as a series of parking spaces. Typically, the parking lot extension will be extension 700 and the parking spaces will be 701 through 720. Using call parking is as simple as transferring the call to extension 700:

As simple as that, a phone call can be made available for anyone to use at any time.
