The Aastra 9480i 4-Line IP Desk phone is a standard desk phone. It includes all of the standard features you would expect from a desk phone, including a large informative display, four line appearances, busy lamp field, missed/received/placed call directories, two-way speaker phone and intercom, mute, headset, call-waiting, three-way calling, and more. The Aastra 9480i is also available in a CT version, which includes a cordless handset complete with all of the features of your IP desk phone.

Aastra 9480i Interface
- LCD screen – Displays features such as time, date, phone number, caller ID, and softkeys.
- Softkeys - These buttons perform context-specific functions as shown on the LCD screen and may also be used as busy lamp field or speed dial buttons.
- Navigation Buttons - Use these buttons to navigate the various menus and applications available on the phone.
- Feature Keys - Use these buttons to control your active call. Xfer allows you to perform in-call transfers. Conf sets up three-way conference calls. Icom gives you easy access to the intercom. Services can be used to enable custom applications on your phone.
- Line Keys - Use these keys to activate the call appearances associated with them.

- Call Control/Options Keys - These keys offer various call control functions and access to the options menu. The Hold button will place the active call on hold. The Redial button gives you access to the redial menu, from which you may choose to redial previously dialed numbers. The Goodbye button will end the current call. The Options button gives you access to the options menu.
- Voicemail Indicator Light - Flashes red when you have a voicemail.
- Speaker Buttons - Enable speaker phone or headset (left) or mute the microphone (right).
- Volume Control - Increase ringer, speaker, and caller volume.
- Speaker - This is the speaker.
- Dial Pad - This functions the same as the dial pad on a normal phone.

Using the Aastra 9480i IP Phone
Placing a Call
- Take the handset off hook or press a Line key or the Speaker key to get a dial tone.
- Dial the number you wish to call.
- Press the Dial softkey or wait for timeout.
Transferring a Call
- While in a call, press the Xfer button.
- Dial the number to which you wish to transfer the call and press the Dial softkey.
- If you wish to perform a blind transfer, press the Xfer button again now. Otherwise, announce the call.
- Press the Xfer button again to complete the transfer.
Perform Three-Way Calling
- While in a call, press the Conf button.
- Dial the number you wish to add to the call and press the Dial softkey.
- Announce the call.
- Press the Conf button again to join the first call or the Drop softkey followed by the Pickup softkey to return to the original caller.
- Use the navigation keys to select between the two callers and press the Drop softkey to remove one party from the call.
Dial Voicemail for this Extension
- Press the Messages softkey.
- Enter the password for your voicemail box using your dial pad.
Directory Features
Look Up Missed or Received Calls
- To view the Missed or Received Calls directory, press the Services button.
- Use the Navigation Keys to select Callers List and then press the Select softkey.
- Use the Navigation Keys to scroll through the missed and received calls.
- To dial a number, highlight that call and press the Dial softkey.
Redial A Number
- To view the Placed Calls directory, press the Redial button.
- Use the Navigation Keys to select the number you wish to redial.
- When the number has been selected, press the Dial softkey.
Add a Contact to Your Personal Directory
- To access the personal directory, press the Services button.
- Use the Navigation Keys to select Directory and then press the Select softkey.
- Press the Add New softkey.
- Use the Navigation Keys and the Dial Pad to enter the name and number for this contact.
- Press the Save softkey.
- Press the OK softkey.
Delete a Contact from Your Personal Directory
- To access the personal directory, press the Services button.
- Use the Navigation Keys to select Directory and then press the Select softkey.
- Use the Navigation Keys to select the contact you would like to delete.
- Press the Delete softkey.
- Confirm that you do want to delete the contact by pressing the Yes softkey.
- Press the OK softkey.
Call a Contact from Your Personal Directory
- To access the personal directory, press the Services button.
- Use the Navigation Keys to select Directory and then press the Select softkey.
- Use the Navigation Keys to select the contact you would like to call.
- Press the Dial softkey.
